What this covers
This policy explains what the Carb Calculator app ("the app") stores about you, why, and the choices you have. The app is an information tool for counting carbohydrates. It is not a medical service.
What we store
- Your account details: your email address and, if you add one, a display name.
- Your activity in the app: the foods you log, meals you build, favourites, saved quick-acting carb items, portion choices and any notes you type.
- Contributions you choose to make: products you add when a barcode is missing, and reports you send about incorrect nutrition information.
What we never ask for
We never ask for medical information — no diagnoses, medications, insulin doses or health conditions. Please don't put medical details in your notes, because they will be stored with your log.
Where your data lives
Your log and meals are private to your account and are stored on secure servers in the EU. Catalogue information you submit (such as a new product) may be reviewed and made available to other users once approved.
On your device
The app keeps small amounts of information in your browser to work well: your sign-in session, recent searches, an unsaved meal you're still building, and an offline copy of food data so the basics keep working with a poor connection. See our cookie policy for details.
Camera and photos
The camera is only used when you choose to scan a barcode or photograph a plate. If you use the photo estimate feature, the photo is sent to an AI service to identify the foods on your plate. The photo itself is not added to your log — only the items you confirm are saved.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. To delete your account and everything in your log, meals and favourites, email no-reply@carbcounter.uk and we will remove it. You can also clear most on-device data yourself by signing out or clearing your browser storage.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Significant changes will be shown in the app.
